It's Your Special Day

Casology is celebrating their 5-year anniversary with a blog hop and a balloon-themed challenge.  I looked through my stash and found the perfect stamp for the occasion--Penny Black's slapstick cling Birthday Girl.   I used Bristol Vellum paper and Zig brush markers.  My sentiment is from Your Next Stamp, Whatnot Sentiments Four.   Happy Anniversary Casology!

I'll be linking my card to these challenges:

Thanks for visiting me today, I really appreciate it!

Christmas in July

Several challenges have Christmas themes right now--a great incentive to help us get started on our Christmas cards.

For this card, I used the Santa's Elves stamp and die set by MFT, the elves were colored with copic markers.  The fireplace was put together with Impression Obsession die cuts and the sentiment is an oldie but goodie by Amy R called Winter Sentiments.

Here's a list of the challenges:

Casual Fridays CFC 178, Christmas in July
ABC Christmas Challenge, N is for New and O is for Old
Happy Little Stampers, July Christmas Challenge Anything Goes with an optional twist, die-cuts

I appreciate your visit so much, thank you!

Duoprinting with Chlorophyll

Hello fellow crafters!   I recently learned a new technique called duoprinting with chlorophyll that I'd like to share with you today.

The image you see on my card was not done with a stamp but from leaves.  I pressed some leaves (like the ones you see above) between two pieces of watercolor paper, ran them through my Cuttlebug and was able to get this result.  When I first saw these beautiful cards on Splitcoast Stampers, I couldn't wait to give this technique a try.  You can find the tutorial here by Lydia Fiedler.

I don't know the name of my tree, but the sap from the branches and leaves are milky and sticky so the process got pretty messy.  I initially wanted to get a print of  leaves on a branch but because of all the sap that got squeezed out of the branch, it got really wet and sticky and turned out to be a huge mess.  So I had to be satisfied with just the leaves but was still excited with the colors I got.  Now I'm anxious to try some other leaves and maybe flowers too.

Thank you so much for visiting me today!   Would love to hear if you've tried this too.

Words Take Centre Stage

I purchased a set of acetate cards from Pink Fresh Studio a while back and there was one card I particularly liked and thought was a good rule to live by.   When I saw AAA's CAS Challenge, Words Take Centre Stage, I was inspired to make something with this quote.   To keep it CAS, I simply placed the acetate card in a frame and added an accent.   The die-cut flower is called Joyful from Penny Black.

Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate it!  Have a great day!

These are the challenges I'm playing in:

Anything Goes!
