JustRite Challenge

Hello and Happy Hump Day to you!  I just opened the windows to take this picture and it's going to be a gorgeous day today!   The birds are singing, the flowers are in bloom, the sun is shining--I hope it's the start of a wonderful day for you too!

I made this card to enter in JustRite's Challenge 051 which is to "create a thank you card for someone that may have bestowed a random act of kindness to you".   This was a good chance for me to use my JustRite "Kindness" stamp set that I just recently bought.   I didn't buy the coordinating Spellbinders die yet so I cut out this frame by hand.

I guess you could call this a clean and simple card--no copic coloring so it was fast and easy.  I just used the corner of one sheet of DP from the DCWV Be Mine paper stack, stamped in the birdcage (Studio G stamp only a $1.50 at Ben Franklin), attached a ribbon, a rose, some butterflies, distressed the edges and it was done!

Cricut Critters

Aren't these Cricut Critters adorable?  No, I didn't make these--I don't even own a Cricut, lol.  These were made and given to me by my sweet and so very thoughtful blogging friend Brenda!    Two of them are missing from this group and they'll now be taken cared of by 2 sweet little boys .

I made this card for the son of a dear friend.  She had told me he liked one of the cards I sent her and was claiming it as his own (cute yeah), so I wanted to make a card especially for him.  I was so happy to hear he was delighted to get his very own card. 

Once I thought of a layout, it went pretty quickly to put this card together.  I used the Sizzix Bigz tree die, Papertrey cloud die, Martha Stewart grass punch and Hero Arts Clouds stamp and I let the monkey hang freely so he could be removed and played with.

This card was made for my grandnephew's 1st birthday.  The DP and chipboard cupcake are from DCWV's Sweet collection.  I glued a string of baker's twine to the banner on the DP and cut the number 1 with my sizzix for the candle.

Thank you so much Brenda for sharing your adorable critters with me!  They were fun to play with and I know they'll be enjoyed by these 2 very special little boys!

Surprise!

Hello, hope you're all having a fabulous Sunday!

I'm feeling pretty good about this card because whenever I use any of my old stash, it makes me feel sooo good!  I have tons of the old Making Memories stuff and I finally used the leather corners and flowers that have been sitting for years.

I started off my birthday card using the sketch from A Spoonfull of Sugar and one of the images from TGF's Miss Anya Lounge set.   I thought I'd better ink up this set before buying the latest Hat's Off set that's out right now.  So far my will power is still holding on, lol.

Sweet Blossom

This is one of Sylvia Zet's Wee Digi Stamps called  Sweet Blossom.    Isn't she sweeeet? 

I followed the sketch from Friday Sketchers to make my card.   The DPs are from the same Jack n' Jill paper stack that I used in my previous post and these Prima flowers are from this collection as well.   I colored my image with copic markers, dabbed around the image with Hero Arts shadow ink and distressed the edges of the papers.  My sentiment is from TLC Creations. 

I'm grateful to Nicole, for showing me how I could get my copic colors to match my papers by simply going over my original colors (B's, R's YG's and G's) with the W markers.  If you're a coloring beginner as I am, you'll see what I mean by watching her video here (middle to ending section of video).    Of course I didn't understand a word she was saying, LOL, but as they say--pictures are worth a thousand words!    Thanks Nicole, you're quite an inspiration!

Before I leave, and on a serious note, I hope none of you are suffering from the recent tsunami disaster and that you and your loved ones are all safe.  I'm so grateful that my nephew and his wife are safe in Japan but I'm still worried about what they and the people of Japan must now be facing.  I pray for their safety.

I'm Pulling for You

For my dear, sweet friend Elise who's going through the most difficult time of her life right now.  Please know you'll be in my constant thoughts and prayers, especially today.

I sent Elise this card a few days ago to let her know she is loved and she's not alone.   I know that there are many of you who know and love her too and are pulling for her as well.

 

Her mastectomy is scheduled for noon today.  Please say a special prayer for her.



Fight hard Elise, we love you!!!

Ephemera

I'm stepping out of my usual play box again but when Simon Said Stamp and Show some Ephemera, I had to say, let me try...!  Years ago I bought several packages of Me & My Big Ideas Scrappychic Ephemera (why?, I don't know!)  so I wasn't going to let this challenge go by without trying to use some of this old stash, lol!

This also fits the challenges at Stamptacular Sunday's Challenge - You've Been Framed and Paper Play Challenges - Shabby Chic/Vintage.

I just now remembered seeing a really old picture of my MIL carrying my DH as an infant that I think will go nicely in the frame and hopefully make a nice Mother's Day card for her.   I hope I can find it!

Girl's Day Gift Bags

Girl's Day, celebrated on the 3rd day of the 3rd month

Happy Girl's Day!  Hope you're having a wonderful day! 

I made a couple of Girl's Day gift bags for my DILs last night.

These handbags were put together with lunch sacks and were pretty easy to make.   The hardest part was to resize a 5 inch lunch sack down to 4 inches, as it was too late for me to go shopping.   Don't know why I'm always doing things at the last minute, guess I work better under pressure, lol.  For the measurements, see the tutorial here. 


I used one of the older TGF images from the Miss Anya Dressy set (yay, finally!) and some old stash from Making Memories (chain, tag, metal brads - another yay!).
