Smilin Hedgehog

Goodmorning and isn't it a beautiful day!

First, can I share my great news with you? I got a message from Irina at La-La Land Crafts yesterday that my Trick or Treat card won 2d place and, -- I'll be getting their "Top Three at La-La Land Crafts" badge! OMG, I'm totally blown away and I'm smiling from ear to ear and swinging in air like Mr. Hedgehog up there (lol)!!! Thank you Irina and La-La Land Crafts!

Ok, getting back down to earth. Did I already tell you why I love these challenges? Besides winning :), they really inspire me and challenge me to use that darn right side of my brain. I tell you it takes me so long to make a card! But, gathering at least 4 or 5 challenges makes me think! So here's the challenges that helped make this card:

1. Basic Grey Challenge - Week 4, Embossing

2. Whimsy Stamps Challenge - Challenge 21, The Eyes Have It (eyelets)

3. Flutter by Wednesday #76 - Butterfly or Fairy and Flowers

4. Creative Card Crew - Challenge 30, All that Sparkles

5. Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 79, Buzz Off (Black & Yellow Combo)
http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/2009/09/challenge-79-buzz-off.html

Challenge Recipe:

The "sparkles" on the flowers are from Art Glittering System; the cute little "butterfly" was made from an All Night Media punch; the "eyelet", from my stash, is on the daisy flower; and "Basic Grey" is the Buttercup paper which was "embossed" with the Cuttlebug Embossing Border Die. The image is Penny Black, Daisy Swing.

My card sketch inspiration came from Jodi's card (proudly displayed in my craft room) and the daisy flower and ribbon was part of a thoughtful and totally unexpected RAK from Jane. Thank you again, Jodi and Jane!

I really appreciate your dropping in and for all your wonderful comments. They really mean a lot to me. Thank you so much!

Trick or Treat 4 Challenges

Hello again! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Yesterday I thought I'd make a card and see how many challenges I could enter. Hooray, I found 4 challenges that fit my card:

La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #6 - Paper Piecing

Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Stitch it Up

PaperPlay Challenges - Spot This

Friday Sketchers 71

My paper piecing was done on Trick or Treat Lala from La-La Land Crafts. If you haven't tried paper piecing yet, visit Jane at Whoopsie Daisy! . She has a wonderful step-by-step tutorial showing you the whole process of this technique. Like Jane, I pieced her mask, dress, and jack-o-lantern.

My "spots" are on the Doodlebug and Fundamentals DP and the "stitches" are on the ribbon and on the card (stitched) with Doodlebug Rub ons. The sentiment was made with nestabilities and Inkadinkado's Halloween stamp.

Now I'm off to enter these challenges...

Thanks for dropping by!

Thanks for the Nice Things You Do...

Hi everyone. Hope you had a nice weekend!

For lack of not having anything else to show you, lol, I thought I'd show you the thank you card that I made for someone who really made my day by doing something very sweet and unexpected. I just mailed this today so I won't mention her name but I hope that when she gets this, she'll know how much I appreciated her thoughtfulness.

This is a view of the little card before I attached it to the front. The message continues inside "...and the really nice way you do them!" (borrowed from Hallmark) ;) . The crystal bookmark was hung on it.

I used Anna Griffin DP and Spellbinders Shapeabilities Pendants Fleur De Lis.

Thanks for stopping by!

Another Blog Candy Alert!

Hi Again!

Remember in one of my earlier posts I talked about Rach and how great her copic marker tutorials were? Well, on her blog, Paper Crafts by Rach, she is now offering another whiff of joy candy and if her followers hit the 1000 mark, she says she'll even add a little extra candy.

If she's not already a favorite of yours, please visit her. You'll love her work, too! Hurry, candy will close on the 26th of September.

a Big Thank You and a Blog Candy Alert!

Hello friends, hope you are enjoying your weekend!

First of all, I want to thank Linda for the warm welcome she gave me when she introduced me as a "fellow Hawaii blogging sister" on her blog, Simple and Sassy Creations! I have met so many lovely people in Blogland and I feel so thankful for all of you who take the time to visit me. Thank you, Linda and my new blogging friends, for your warm Aloha!

Well I don't have a card to share with you today, but this will be wayyy more important and fun for you. If you haven't already heard about it, check out the Stampers United blog. They have a big blog hop going on with a huge grand prize and lots of candies along the way to win!

Going through the blog hop, I discovered some new sites I didn't know about, saw some tutorials and new up-coming products, and found more challenges to participate in. So since it's the weekend, put the housework aside for a few minutes to play along. Have some blog hopping fun and good luck in winning some candy!

Thanks so much for dropping by and have a super weekend!

September OCS (One Card Swap) Cards

TGIF and Happy Friday to all of you hard-working people! To us retirees though, it’s Sunday every day so my DH and I don't necessarily get too excited about Fridays any more. In fact, we sometimes have to check the newspaper to see what day it is (lol)!

These are the cards my partner Sherri M. and I made for the OCS Teri organized.

On the left is the card Sherri gave to me. This was my very first OCS so it was nice being paired with Sherri, as she quickly put me at ease with her friendly and gracious emails. Thanks, Sherri, for your very lovely card! I love your layout and how your card sparkles!

The card on the right was my card to Sherri. I used Stamping Bella’s Sake Ketto and a stamp from Stampette’s of Hawaii‘s. The DP is Basic Grey’s Lily Kate. Her dress was paper pieced.

OCSs are a fun way to make new friends. Thanks Teri and Sherri! ....and, it's always nice to receive a hand-made card! :)

Thanks for dropping in and have a great day!

P.S. I had a problem publishing this post earlier and I had to delete it and start over. I hope this one comes out ok. I'm so new at this, I apologize for my screwups. I need Blogger help! :(
