Hello!   Thanks for dropping in.

This is the birthday card I made for my grandson who recently turned 4.  Since Tate loves balloons, I wanted to make them my focal point so I replaced Roboto's balloons with Avery Elle's party balloons, as they were much larger.  

I used my DIY stamping tool that I learned to make from Hallmark Scrapbook & Crafts to stamp the balloons.   I ended up stamping and restamping each balloon several times so my DIY tool got the job done, but it also made me love the concept of  the Misti tool even more so I'll probably break down and buy me a Misti sooner than I planned.

My grandson will be celebrating his 2nd birthday soon so I wanted to make him a card.  Once again I looked to some of my favorite challenges for ideas and with the sketch from  Case this Sketch! #142; the colors from Colour Me...! Playful #90 and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge:  No Designer Paper, I came up with this shaker card for him.

Hi there.  I've been absent for a while, but now that my grandson goes to preschool twice a week,  I have some play time to craft again--to "Do More of What Makes Me Happy".  

As I did in the past, I looked to card challenges for inspiration, color ideas and/or sketches to get me started and when I saw the inspiration photo from the Fusion Card Challenge, the creative colours from Colour Me...! , and Simon Says Die Crazy - use at least one die, I was totally inspired to create and play along.

Sweet Baby Josh

I should have posted this card a "wee" bit earlier, I know, but time has just flown by.  This is the card I made for our new grandbaby Josh who's now almost 2 months old and is as precious as can be.

October 3, 2013, 8 lbs. 12 ozs.

 

We watch Josh full time now and also watch his brother Tate a couple hours each day after we pick him up from preschool.    Needless to say, that leaves grandma little time to color and make cards any more, but I still love to visit my friends in blog land whenever I have a chance.  

 

Since this week is Anything Goes at Simon Says, I thought I'd take this opportunity and link my card there.

I needed a Get Well card that would suit a male so I searched the blog world for some ideas.   Here's where I got my inspiration: 

• Therese Calvird's coloring video.  (TFS your fabulous video, Therese!  I used your copic colors.)
• The Cutie Pie Challenge Blog - Challenge #53 A Cute One for the Boys
• Crafting for all Season - Challenge #61 Make it Funny
• Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog -  Celebrate STAMPtember and use a product from the Simon Says Stamp Store   (I  used the Phrase Bubbles die and the .05 Copic Multiliner Ink Marker that I purchased from the Simon Says Stamp Store.  Note:  I drew my line around the phrase bubble with the ink marker before taking the paper out of the die.)

 

Inside the card it reads:   

        

 Because they eat what bugs them!

CAS(E) this Sketch #45

 

L Letterpress Printing Plate, Ink and Paper

 

The sketch on CAS(E) this Sketch and the challenge on Simon Says...Emboss It not only inspired me to make a card but also motivated me to use my QuicKutz L Letterpress kit again.  This time, I made a few extra to make the set up and cleanup worth while.   (I'd like to pass on a tip that I learned.  Use the Goo Gone Spray Gel to clean up your plates and brayer.  It really works great.)

Just a note

Hero Arts "Old French Writing" and Wordsworth "Just a Note" stamps,
Die-namics Notebook Edge Die

 

Several months ago, I came across Lia Griffith's beautiful paper feathers on her blog, Handcraft Your Life.    Since she generously shared her template and instructions, I was inspired to make a few feathers myself.  Feathers seem to be quite popular these days.   

 

Maile Belles' post "Perfectly Simple Lunch Notes" was my next inspiration in making this "note" card.  Starting with plain white card stock, I cut out a small top-folded card with my Die-namics' Notebook Edge die and then drew in the blue and red lines with my colored pencils to make it look like composition paper.   

 

Finally, the old French writing background was inspired by the photo inspiration from Fusion Card Challenge #17.   I'm not sure if the rub-on heart is a good fit there, but I needed something to fill in the blank space, for lack of a signature.
